Transportation for Haiku North America 2009

Updated: August 2, 2009

The closest airport to Ottawa is Ottawa Macdonald-Cartier International Airport (YOW).

Remember Your Passport

By  the summer of 2009, all travellers (land and air) will need passports to enter Canada. Begin the work now. Be prepared  to be caught  in the currents.

Travel Tips

Use of lockers (National Library) for HNA attendees. HNA attendees may have access to small lockers on the ground floor and adjacent to the conference lecture rooms. This might be helpful if you intend to bring laptops, cameras or other conference material, jacket, etc. To obtain a locker, one is required to sign in at the Library registration desk for a locker key. Please discuss this with the Commissionaire at the security desk upon arrival.

August Weather, National Capital Region. August average high/low temperatures are 58 degrees to 77 degrees. Shorts and light shirts are suitable. However, there are variations, so a light sweater or jacket is useful just in case. It would be wise to have such extra covering for the cruise boat evening on 8 August. There is not normally a lot of rain in August, but again, we suggest you bring a rain jacket or coat and small umbrella just in case.

Airporter shuttle bus fares/schedule & taxi cost. For those searching transportation options from the Ottawa International, the Airporter Schedule takes arrivals to the conference hotel (Crowne Plaza). Taxi fares run around $30 to the hotel.
